Our Team
Who is Veritable Vegetable?
Most of the more than eighty human beings that make things happen at VV are serious artists, musicians, photographers, writers, chefs, dancers, poets, ritualists, parents, social activists and healers. This comes as no surprise to those of us who work here. We see a connection between art and politics, a connection between embracing life and wanting to make the world a better place, a connection between our personal creative process, and collaborating with others to effect social change.
Many Hands
We honor the hard work that enables each piece of food to pass through our warehouse. Imagine the hands of the farm workers, all the truck drivers, our warehouse staff; all handling each package as we literally move food from farm to customer.
Right Livelihood
VV manifests the concept of “Right Livelihood”, which means your daily work is consistent with your values. Even though the hours can be brutal (we operate 24/7), and the work fast-paced and often frenetic, when we come to work we know we are contributing to farmland protection and sustainable agriculture, as well as the creation of a new model of cooperation, participative management and community service in the business world. That is a good feeling in today’s world of commercialism and work place alienation.
Although our employee census changes, we have an unusual gender balance; approximately 75% of the folks who work at VV are women. We know that makes us very different from other businesses.
