Our Departments

Warehouse

24 hours a day, seven days a week, our day and night teams insure that freshly-picked produce comes in from the farm and goes out to the customer smoothly. Our Warehouse Department fills orders and monitors inventory control to insure consistent quality, and acts as the critical hub between farm and customer.

Entry-level and experienced applicants should be meticulous and flexible with basic math and communication skills. Physical demands include the ability to lift 50 lbs., work in cold coolers, and be standing or walking for extended periods. Experience with produce, forklifts, and computers a plus.

Transportation

VV drivers deliver product 24 hours a day, every day of the year, around the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. The VV fleet logs nearly a million miles every year, and our drivers are among the best in the industry, some having worked at VV for over 20 years.

Drivers interested in joining our team must have at least two years of Class A (or B) driving experience. Retail produce delivery and backhaul from farm experience preferred. Basic math and good communication skills and a cooperative, efficient nature required.

Sales

A dynamic and interactive team, our Sales Department strives to provide consistently high-quality service and works collaboratively with our 300+ customers and the purchasing team to sell the best produce at a fair price.

Interested applicants should be highly motivated and good communicators, and work well in a group. We prefer applicants to have at least one year of experience in organic produce. Weekends and early mornings required.

Purchasing

Our six buyers collaborate with our Transportation Department to ensure the freshest and most reliable arrivals to our warehouse. Each buyer focuses on a group of products, working closely with our Sales people to provide well-posted market information and up to the minute prices to our customers, and to our growers. Quality control is another collaborative effort, with Buyers, Warehouse staff and Salespeople inspecting product on a daily basis.

Applicants should be career-oriented with initiative and a cooperative spirit, and have a quick sense of humor. Knowledge of computer-based purchasing programs is a plus. Background or education in agriculture or farming, food distribution, and environmental issues is preferred. 5:00 a.m. start time required.

Human Resources

Our Human Resources Department recruits and retains good employees, administers company-wide benefits, provides for employee relations, implements safety programs, and makes sure that VV remains in compliance with all employment laws and regulations.

Administration

Our Administration Department contains both the Finance and Information Technology (IT) departments. Together the Administration Department connects the dots that become VV paychecks, invoices, computer programs and new trucks. In terms of the nitty gritty, our Finance Department manages customer and vendor accounts, payroll administration, and our 401(K) plan, while our IT Department keeps our networks and computers up and running.
