Swing Shift Warehouse Position

Veritable Vegetable, a woman-owned, socially responsible, organic produce company in San Francisco is looking for people interested in organics and sustainable agriculture.

The Day and Swing Warehouse Crew work together to receive, warehouse and ship fresh produce. The warehousing of product is essential to day and swing shifts, with strong attention to use of space and product rotation.  They also pull and palletize customer orders, clean warehouse, as well as other tasks.

We are looking for cooperative, flexible individuals who are meticulous, efficient, as well as people who are willing to take part in the group effort, can think for themselves and are highly responsible. Basic math and good communication skills required. Produce experience, forklift, and computer skills are a plus. The job involves working in cold coolers, repetitively lifting up to 50lbs. and being able to be on your feet for long periods of time.

We have open shifts with start times beginning from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. 7 days a week, full time only. Must be able to work overtime and weekends.

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour depending on experience.

Systems Analyst I – Trainee

Veritable Vegetable is the oldest organic produce distributor in the U.S. We provide full service distribution of organic fresh fruits and vegetables to retailers, restaurants, and wholesalers. Veritable Vegetable is a women-owned business, founded on principles of cooperation, participatory management, and ethical business practices.  Located in San Francisco, California, we have been creating community alliances and promoting sustainable agriculture since 1974.

The Systems Analyst will work closely with the current Senior Systems Analyst to maintain and enhance an existing business and accounting system (Vixen).  We will train. We are looking for a person with the aptitude, ultimately, to advance to a Senior Systems Analyst position.

Position Summary

·         Ensure the smooth operation of Vixen 24 hours a day, seven days a week

·         Develop new features for Vixen as needed

·         Work with Financial Manager to development and maintain accounting systems

·         Keep up-to-date with emerging technology worldwide and evaluate for possible use at Veritable          Vegetable.

·         Support the training of end users of the system

·         Provide back-up support to the functions of the Systems Administrator

Essential Qualifications

·         Strong teamwork, analytical, and problem solving skills

·         Possess strong communication skills

·         Proactive, collaborative and community oriented

·         Possess a positive attitude with a desire to be a long-term team member

·         Exceptional problem solving skills

·         Ability to work well independently and within cross functional departments

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

·         Strong relational database programming and SQL skills desired

·         Ability to write clean, well structured, well commented code

·         Basic knowledge of accounting systems

Trainee Compensation:  Dependent upon experience

The Trainee is expected to develop the capability to take over the role of Systems Analyst within nine months.  As Systems Analyst, she/he will work in consultation with the Senior Systems Analyst.

Trainer

Veritable Vegetable is a woman-owned, socially responsible, organic produce company in San Francisco.  We have an immediate fulltime opening for a creative, energetic person with expertise in education and training.

Under general supervision of the Training Manager, the Trainer will

·         Provide training to staff at Veritable Vegetable Inc., with primary focus on warehouse staff

·         Assist in the development of training plans

·         Assemble and develop training materials

·         Assess knowledge, attitudes and skills of trainees based on specific task performance and interactions with co-workers

·         Consult with the Operations Manager and the Warehouse Supervisor to evaluate effectiveness of training

·         Interface with Human Resource Manager on overall staff development

·         Be able to carry out, at a high level of performance, all tasks required of Warehouse staff

Essential Qualifications

·         At least one year’s experience in education and/or training

·         Ability to work a full time flexible schedule, mostly afternoon and evening hours

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to be on your feet for several hours at a time

·         Excellent verbal and written skills in English

·         Demonstrated skills in making presentations to small groups

·         Basic understanding of warehouse operations

·         Flexibility, ability to work as a member of a team and independently

·         Basic capabilities with word processing and simple graphics programs

Desired Qualifications

·         Second language skills (Spanish preferred)

·         College degree in education, psychology, sociology, environmental studies, agriculture, health education or other relevant field

Class A and B Truck Drivers

We are seeking Class A and B local route drivers to both deliver organic produce to stores and restaurants, and pick-up from organic farms and distributors. Local routes extend as far south as Salinas, east to Lake Tahoe, and north to Chico and Ft. Bragg.

We are looking for people who are:

·         Reliable, cooperative, diligent, and efficient, with good customer service skills

·         Able to work both independently and as team members

·         Able to work early morning hours (start times vary, 2:30 – 4am)

·         Proficient in basic math and have good communication skills 

·         Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

·         Experience with produce preferred

·         Pallet jack and forklift experience a plus

Clean DMV required. Pre-employment drug screen is required by federal law for all commercial drivers.
