Where does our food come from?
Veritable Vegetable is a company of activists. Our activism
starts with educating our staff, customers, farmers, and community about
agricultural issues. Where does our food come from? Who grows it and how is it
grown? Acting as a conduit for information is something we do on a daily basis.
Shaping the future
The protection of midsize and small farms in the face of
corporate mono-cropping, and the future of any sustainable agriculture system,
rely on continued activism. In addition to our own efforts both as individuals
and as a company, we stand in solidarity with like-minded thinkers. We want
farmers to control seed supply and farm inputs. We want local and regional
alternatives to food distribution by giants in agribusiness. And we want clean,
quality food accessible to everyone.
We support activists
The Sustainable Agriculture movement owes its strength to activists
across the planet working to protect independent and family farms, improve the
quality of food and soil, and establish equitable distribution of healthy food
for everyone. Protests, boycotts, widespread consumer education, and massive
legislative campaigns have resulted in more research dollars allocated to
organic farming, better rules put in place regulating the growing and selling
of organic produce, and products made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
rejected by consumers internationally. We support the activists who continue to
push this agenda forward, and encourage you to do the same.
“Time and time again staff at Veritable Vegetable bring
historic perspective to the table, advocate for family farmers from a business
perspective and challenge the corporate profile by the means within which they
do business. VV makes us all better “citizens” of the organic community!”
