Buy organic

If you can’t find organic products (produce, dairy, meat, personal care products) at your local store, demand that the store begin carrying them.

Buy local

Shop your nearby Farmers’ Market, and meet the producers themselves. Wherever you live in the United States, locally produced organic food can be found. In California there are many farmer’s markets; find one near you!

Educate yourself

  • Attend conferences, lectures and workshops in your area
  • Use the web to find local food and farming organizations
  • Stay informed with newsletters and updates sent by organizations you support

Educate others

Invite friends and family to think about where their food comes from, how it was grown and who grew it. Don’t underestimate your power to influence others to reflect and take action.

Write your Senator or Congressperson

There are campaigns underway to require the labeling of genetically modified foods, to stop government funding of genetic engineering, to demand that farmers using sustainable practices be rewarded with tax incentives, and many others.
Check out our Take Action links, and spread the word!

Grow Your Own

Whether you live in the city, the suburbs or the country grow an edible herb or plant, or join a community garden. Enjoy the wonder of plants giving food!
