From farm to table

Whether it’s called logistics, supply chain management or “big truck in, little truck out”, distribution is a necessary component of getting any product to market. At VV we believe that as a wholesale produce distributor we play a vital and necessary role in getting fresh vegetables and fruits from farm to table.

On the most fundamental level, we buy from farmers and shippers, transport those goods to a central location, and re-sell in smaller quantities to retail outlets, restaurants and other regional distributors. As organic produce specialists, we carry an extensive inventory so that our customers can have a diverse selection of produce not otherwise available to them. We are able to pick-up from multiple farms and shipping points on a route, bring the product to our centralized distribution center, and ship it immediately to another region, ensuring freshness and diversity that our customers can count on. Our own Trucking Division is key to our ability to control reliable arrivals and provide accurate fulfillment of customer orders.

Value-added

Logistics and efficient transport of goods are primary services that we provide; yet the information and feedback that we supply to our farmers and our customers is often considered equally valuable. We believe people have the basic right to know how their food was grown and who grew it; we consider such information nearly as important as the physical product itself, and we broadcast it widely.

It is the interface and close working relationships within our company that enable us to maintain our high level of service. The conscious integration between all our various departments is highly tuned, and we think, very unusual. We pay attention to details, and our entire staff is trained to participate in quality control. Our integrated custom computer system provides real-time inventory at our fingertips. We provide meaningful work and consider staff development an important service to our employees; providing training in equipment handling, produce knowledge, business and computer skills is only a start.
