VV’s purchasing department is known for its ethical and competent buyers. We work with over 300 growers and brokers to provide a complete daily supply of organic fruits and vegetables, and our availability reflects these diverse relationships. We feature local farmers and value long-term relationships. VV represents each individual farm label separately to emphasize unique farm quality and build grower recognition in the marketplace.

We are dedicated to working with growers big and small, whether they sell only a few, seasonal items or a year-round offering of fruits and vegetables. We offer a remarkable array of fresh produce, from lettuce and red delicious apples to more unique items like purple carrots, fingerling potatoes, heirloom apples, and shelling beans. And while the majority of what we purchase is California-grown, we source out of state and foreign produce as well.

Our six buyers collaborate with our Transportation Department to ensure the freshest and most reliable arrivals to our warehouse. Each buyer focuses on a group of products, working closely with our salespeople to provide well-posted market information and up to the minute prices to our customers, and to our growers. Quality control is another collaborative effort, with buyers, warehouse staff and salespeople inspecting product on a daily basis.

We honor our farmers as artists, scientists and advocates for the Earth. Our existence depends on their success.
