Veritable Vegetable was a main sponsor for the 32nd annual EcoFarm Conference this year. One of the lectures at the conference, “Truckers Eye View of Organic Produce,” featured our Transportation Manager, Chris Adams. Chris focused her presentation on the sustainability and reliability of our 22 truck fleet. Our trucks utilize hybrid refrigeration units to efficiently cool our produce, and are fitted with aerodynamic side skirts and Deflecktor wheel covers to reduce fuel consumption. Moreover, our fleet includes 6 hybrid tractors which cumulatively save almost 13,000 gallons of fuel per year. Since we manage our own fleet with state of the art equipment like XATA tracking, we provide a high level of accountability to our growers, customers, and freight vendors. In our aim to maximize fuel efficiency, we dispatch our trucks filled with orders to customers and return with farm-fresh produce. Any extra space is rented out to freight vendors.
