Our Warehouse and Inventory Control Teams

Because each warehouser is trained to recognize different farm labels, multiple pack types, and the vast range of fruit and vegetable varieties that pass through the warehouse floor each day, our warehouse crew is instrumental in providing timely delivery of high-quality produce to meet our customers’ orders.

Our warehouse crew works in shifts to cover all 24 hours of each day, seven days a week. The workload divides into four distinct, but overlapping, areas of responsibility: receiving, inventory control and order pulling and shipping. Because we value our warehouse work so much, every staff member spends time working in the warehouse, regardless of the position for which they were hired. At VV we recognize and honor the labor that goes into growing, handling, transporting, and preparing fresh food.

It’s More Than Just a Building

Located a 1/2 mile from the San Francisco Produce Terminal, Veritable Vegetable’s two warehouses proudly reside within San Francisco’s city limits. With over 35,000 square feet of warehouse space, and ten different coolers, we efficiently control temperature and humidity to ensure proper storage of our inventory.

In addition to handling our food effectively, we pay close attention to green technologies. A few of our sustainability efforts include:

Zero Waste. VV diverts 99% of our waste from landfills - that means we recycle, re-use and compost nearly all the materials entering our warehouse.

Energy Efficiency. We utilize state-of-the-art temperature control technology and thick strip doors to ensure food stays fresh without overcooling while reducing energy usage. We also invest in energy efficient ballasts, fixtures and bulbs as well as motion and lumen sensors that detect movement and natural daylight cutting down on energy use whenever possible. Additionally, VV installed 560 solar roof panels decreasing energy use.

Non-toxic Environment. In addition to our environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies, we also use non-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint throughout the offices and warehouse.

Sustainable Materials. Because of our commitment to the environment, we utilize furniture made from renewable resources such as reclaimed wood and the insulation in our warehouses is made from shredded cotton jeans.

Organic Certification

We are certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) as an organic handler.

Hours of Operation

In addition to our regular distribution services, we offer cross-docking and consolidation services. Rates vary according to storage and handling requirements; just give us a call to learn about our rates.
