We believe relationships depend on clear communication; we hope the below policies help eliminate any possible confusion during the buying process.
Our Sales Department is open Sunday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:00PM. Orders placed by 3:00PM will be delivered the following day. We accept add-ons or sales order changes on our voice mail up until 11:00PM for next day delivery.
Because we are committed to supporting our community, VV does not have a minimum for those customers located in San Francisco. Outside of San Francisco, we base our delivery minimums on location. If you have a question about your delivery minimum, please call us at (415) 641- 3500 and ask for anyone in Sales.
Check with our Sales Manager to determine the freight charges applicable to your location.
We produce an availability list six days a week (Sunday through Friday) that reflects our most current pricing. Although we make every effort to charge what we quote, all prices are subject to change without notice. Your Salesperson will advise you if the price of an item will be different than the price quoted.
All new accounts will be C.O.D. for the first month, after which time we establish credit terms. Terms can be established after we receive a credit application and our Finance Department has approved it. Please allow two weeks for processing of a credit application. We expect customers to adhere to credit terms. Past due accounts may result in order delays.
Our drivers will give you ample time to check-in your order. If you find a problem with your order, our driver will either negotiate a discount or take the product back. Your invoice total will be changed to reflect this at that time. If you find the problem with your order after our driver has left, you must contact our office within 24 hours. We do not allow deductions from an invoice unless the change is made by a VV driver or Salesperson.
You must be pre-approved to receive credit for returned product. Although we prefer that you check-in your order while the driver is still with you, if you find a problem with a product after the driver has left, you must contact us within 24 hours.
Once the product is ready for pickup, drivers will give you a “product return receipt” for product that has been authorized for return. Returns must be in clean, salable condition. They must be in their original boxes, without any markings. Partial cases will not be accepted as returns unless previously arranged with your Salesperson.
Please have items for return readily available for the driver. Items not returned within one week will not be credited.
Although our goal is to ensure that only the freshest and best quality product leaves our warehouse, we understand that some products may arrive to you that do not meet quality standards. Please follow the credit procedure to insure timely credits.
Credit requests should be made directly with your Salesperson. Please be prepared to tell us the product and grower, invoice number, and the nature of the problem. All credits must be called in within 24 hours of receiving your delivery. If your Salesperson has indicated that the product must be returned (see above Returns), credit will not be issued unless our driver has issued a product return receipt.
Mis-ordered items that are returned will be assessed a 10% ($3.00 minimum) to restock the product.
Split case policy
Many of the items we sell are available in less than full-case quantities.
We offer half-cases on the following items:
- Bananas, specialty varieties (Red or other specialty) only, 40lb boxes
- Beans, all varieties, on cases weighing at least 20#
- Beets, loose in bags
- Bok Choy and Baby Bok Choy weighing at least 20#
- Cabbage, all varieties
- Daikon, loose and with greens
- Eggplant, on cases weighing at least 20#
- Peas, all varieties
- Peppers, bell varieties, on cases weighing at least 20#
- Peppers, chili varieties, on cases weighing at least 10#
- Parsnips, loose
- Rutabagas, loose
- Tomatillos, loose
- Turnips, loose
- Burdock root
- Spinach, bunched
- Sprouts, 12 count clamshells only
All half cases are charged a $2.00 premium.
We offer half-dozen quantities on the following items:
All bunched herbs and greens. All bunched greens and bunched herbs purchased by the full case are discounted 50 cents per dozen.
Herbs sold in clamshells are sold with a minimum of six clamshells per herb.
